Mount Nemo

Burlington, ON

Mount Nemo profile image

Mount Nemo provides nice hiking with a fantastic view at the end. The cliffs of Mount Nemo in Halton Hills provide a fantastic view of the landscape all the way to Toronto some 40 kilometers away.

Located just North of Burlington off of Guelph Line, Mount Nemo is very accessible for anyone in the GTA. As you drive up Guelph L. you'll pass # 2 Sideroad. When you come to Colling Rd., turn right & follow the short drive to the parking lot provided for the walk. There is an entry & parking fee required. At the beginning of the trail, you will find a key map showing the trails available, their difficulty & distance covered.

Early October is a wonderful time to visit as the colours are spectacular. If you decide to visit Mount Nemo, bring along your camera as you will be sure to leave with some wonderful memories. You may even find something unexpected.

Keep in mind that safety is very important when visiting an outing like Mount Nemo. The Cliff is shear and if you fall, well, that could be it for you. So keep the kids close and safe. If you walk along the cliff side, there is some interesting climbing if you feel so inclined. However, you will be alone if you get in trouble, so be careful. And it might make sense to bring along some friends.

Although not especially rigorous, there are places near the escarpment where one may wish to have hiking shoes rather than runners. With the various rock formations, moss etc. a stronger shoe would certainly be of benefit.

For a nice long hike with some interesting views, Mount Nemo will not disappoint.
